How do I look after my new hair accessory?

  • Storage: Store flat or hanging up so as to avoid crushing/damaging the flowers. Keep away from heat sources and strong lights to avoid discolouration and fading. Silver/Gold: To prevent tarnishing, place back in the gift box provided to minimise humidity/chemical contact which promotes tarnishing.
  • Hairspray, hair dye: If possible keep away from direct contact with hairspray, dye and cosmetics. Wait until these products have dried before putting your hair accessories on.
  • Cleaning: Gently dust with a clean paint/make up brush or wipe with a soft cotton or lint-free cloth. Do not rinse or soak the accessory as this will damage the flowers.

How do I look after my new jewellery accessories?

  • Storage: Store flat or hanging up so as to avoid scratching the crystals, pearls and glass/gemstone beads. Store your jewellery carefully to avoid items getting tangled and damaged. Keep away from heat sources and strong lights to avoid discolouration and fading. Silver/Gold: To prevent tarnishing, use air tight, sealable bags to store as this minimises humidity/chemical contact which promotes tarnishing.
  • Hairspray, perfume and cosmetics: If possible keep away from direct contact with hairspray, perfume and cosmetics. Wait until these products have dried before putting your jewellery accessories on.
  • Cleaning: Gently wipe with a soft cotton or lint-free cloth. For items needing more than a wipe clean, simply rinse in cool water (not recommended for wired tiaras and headbands), wipe with a cotton cloth and leave to air dry flat before putting your jewellery away. Chemical cleaners are not recommended as they wear away the pearl, gemstone and foil coating of some of the beads. Silver tarnish can easily be removed with a silver jewellery polishing cloth (although please note that silver plated jewellery will wear away if you polish regularly!).
  • Avoid showering in your jewellery as the chemicals in the water (such as chlorine) can discolour and make both the metal and beading brittle.
